Then this happened last night playing against the Suns. The Suns (25-18) battled back from a 20-point deficit in the first half to shock the host Cleveland Cavaliers, 99-90, on Sunday before 15,872 at Quicken Loans Arena. It was a collapse of epic proportions. The Cavaliers had to have been feeling good about themselves in the first half, as they took an 18-point lead into the locker room. Some were suggesting it was their most complete half of the season. All that changed in the second half, as the Cavs crumbled and were outscored, 56-29.
This is what Mike Brown had to say about the embarrassing performance...
"I'm disappointed that we came out and played that way," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. "We should all be embarrassed with the way we played in second half."Mike Brown should be embarrassed about this season... they hired Brown to come back and provide stifling defense and he's only ranked 19th in the league. The biggest things that Brown received criticism for his offense which has the Cavs once again towards the bottom of the barrell averaging 96 points per game.
They made a trade for Luol Deng which was supposed to bring scoring, defense and veteran leadership to this team. It hasn't actually gone picture perfect for neither parties. Deng since the Bulls game has been relatively quiet and I've not seen him be as vocal with the team as you would want from your veteran. He does have to take time to get in tune with this team but time is not something that Cavs have right now. Deng will be a free agent this season, Kyrie Irving has to sign another contract soon. Cavs can possibly be looking at a team that will be repeatedly going to the lottery every season.
Many fans believe that Mike Brown shouldn't even be a coach in the league. He's best suited as a defensive assistant. He can't develop younger players like Anthony Bennett who's been sitting on the bench. Why wouldn't the Cavs send him to the D-League? He's a number #1 draft pick that would be absurd right? Mike Brown thinks so. He also can't coach offense, he often leaves in the same inefficient lineup. His rotations are completely off base and he doesn't put the right players in for the right situations.
No wonder Cavs fans are calling for Mike Brown's head. He's an absolute embarrassment, what do you think? What will turn around this franchise? Dan Gilbert can't be a happy camper right now... but he's mishandled this franchise since he first bought it. Are the Cavs justified in firing Mike Brown in his first year?
